When choosing our traffic calming methods, we’re considering multiple factors to satisfy the needs of all the stakeholders. These factors include:
1. Safety. Our goal is to provide a design that satisfies the client and residents, but it is important to remember that “safety should rule” (quoting a Kendal resident).
2. Accommodating emergency vehicles, shipping trucks, buses, and carts.
3. Maintaining the neighborhood aesthetic and feel. It’s not just senior living for the residents, it’s their home.
4. Cost and effectiveness. We have a budget of about $25,000 to keep in mind. To best help Kendal, we should propose the most effective safety methods using the budget we have been given.
5. Avoiding invasive methods. Digging into the road is more expensive, a longer process, and would hinder the passage of larger vehicles.
